At Svivlo, we love helping anglers get the most out of their gear. Our maintenance tips are here to support you in keeping your reels in great shape. That said, every fishing situation is different, and not all advice will apply to every reel or condition.
Please note: Svivlo can’t be held responsible for any damage or issues that may result from following these tips. If you’re ever unsure, it’s always best to reach out to a professional or contact our support team.

🛠️ Why maintenance matters
- Extends the life of your Svivlo reel.
- Prevents wear on CastGuard™ components.
- Ensures smooth spool control and casting performance.
- Protects against corrosion in saltwater environments.
- Maintains warranty eligibility (see https://svivlo.com/warranty)
🚿 Rinse and clean after each use
- Inspect your reel for any visible issues. If something seems off, contact your dealer or Svivlo Support.
- Tighten the spool tension cap and star drag.
- Rinse the reel gently using fresh drinking water – either under slow running water or with a spray bottle.
- Wipe down the exterior with a soft cloth, preferably microfiber, to remove dirt, sand, salt, or debris.
- Clean stubborn spots using a cotton swab or toothbrush with isopropyl alcohol.
- Loosen the spool tension knob to its recommended setting (see guide)
🧴 Monthly lubrication
- Apply reel oil to visible bearings and the worm gear. Use high-quality oil suitable for fishing reels (e.g., Super Lube), or ask your dealer.
- ⚠️ Avoid oiling the spool axle or CastGuard axle.
- Clean the pinion gear:
- Remove the side plate and gently take out the spool.
- Use a cotton swab to clean the pinion gear and any visible dirt.
- Inspect and clean the spool assembly.
- Do not lubricate the spool shaft
- Reassemble the spool and side plate, ensuring the spool axle aligns properly with the CastGuard axle.
- Re-adjust the spool tension knob to the recommended setting.
🧰 Professional Reel Service
