Effective Fishing Time (EFT)
EFT is the percentage of time per hour that a lure is actively in the water, attempting to catch fish, excluding only time lost due to reel-related inefficiencies.
It reflects how well a reel adapts to real-world casting conditions and keeps the angler fishing – not fixing, tuning, or learning.
Why It Matters
Traditional reel specs like ball bearings, spool weight, gear cut, or gear ratios, don’t measure what anglers actually care about:
