Brand Story: Viking Spirit, Sail, and Norse Heritage
Svivlo, a brand owned by Brillianze Sweden AB, was founded by father and son Sten-Thore and Patrik Zander. Sten-Thore, an experienced watchmaker, spent his life mastering small, complex objects in motion. Although not an angler himself, he set out to solve sport fishing’s Gordian knot: line tangles and backlash in baitcasting reels.
After years of dedicated work, countless prototypes, and extensive testing, Team Zander succeeded. His invention, the patented CastGuard™ system, is activated by the spool’s deceleration when the line is not taut, effectively eliminating backlash and line tangles. Today, Svivlo reels empower anglers to cast farther and with better control, while eliminating the risk of tangles. This breakthrough demonstrates how expertise from a seemingly unrelated field can lead to game-changing innovation.
What does Svivlo mean?
Svivlo might sound like a made-up word, but it is actually Old Norse for “spinning around” and also a dialect from of “Svirvel,” which was a fishing lure made of tin. What better reason than this to name our brand Svivlo.
