What Makes CastGuard™ Different

Here’s a simple way to see how CastGuard™ differs from traditional braking approaches in everyday fishing.

Most braking systems:

  • Respond to spool speed alone

  • Work best when conditions don’t change

  • Require frequent manual adjustment

  • Focus on symptoms

CastGuard™:

  • Responds to what’s happening during the cast
  • Works quietly in the background
  • Requires no tuning once fishing
  • Focuses on reducing interruptions

This means the reel focuses on how it behaves once you cast, not just on what the dial says.

CastGuard™ in Everyday Fishing

Rather than technical descriptions, think of CastGuard™ like this:

  • It’s like having a steady hand under the reel, helping with spool control

  • It reacts when the lure stops pulling line, not just when the spool spins too fast

  • You don’t have to think about it – you just fish, and the reel behaves more predictably

This helps keep more of your attention on the water, not the reel.

Fish It 60 Days – Return If It Behaves Like Any Other Reel | Svivlo

The Fish-It Guarantee

Fish it for 60 days
on real water.
Return it if it feels
like any other reel.

Full fishing use allowed. No demo. No careful testing. Fish it normally — wind, lure changes, different conditions. If it behaves like a regular baitcaster, get your money back. No questions asked.

A performance guarantee. Not a return policy.

A standard return policy asks you to decide before you've fished it. That's not useful. You can't know whether a reel works the way we say it does until conditions change mid-session — until the wind picks up and you find out whether you're adjusting or not.

The Fish-it Guarantee gives you 60 days of real fishing to make that call. Change lures and don't reach for the brakes. Cast into wind and don't back off. Work cover in low light and stop timing the spool. Either the reel proves itself on your water, in your conditions — or it goes back. Full refund.

What "behaves like any other reel" means

If you find yourself doing any of the following during normal fishing — the guarantee applies. Return it.

Adjusting brakes or tension between casts as conditions change
Thumbing the spool during flight to prevent a bird's nest
Backing off the cast when going lighter to avoid an overrun
Re-tuning when the wind shifts
Timing the thumb at splashdown as a routine requirement
Habits fire.
Nothing needs them.

If you're in the EU, you already have a 14-day cooling-off right. The Fish-it Guarantee doesn't replace it — it goes well beyond it. Here's how they compare.

EU 14-Day Cooling-Off Svivlo 60-Day Fish-it
Time allowed 14 days 60 days
Usage allowed Inspection and testing only. If you use the product beyond that — including fishing with it — the seller may deduct for diminished value before refunding. Full fishing use. No deduction. Full refund.
Reason to return Any reason If it behaves like any other reel
Who pays return shipping Customer (unless seller specifies otherwise) Customer
Applies to All distance sales within the EU All customers worldwide
Refund timeline Within 14 days of your withdrawal notice — but seller may withhold until the reel is received back Within 5 business days of receiving the reel

EU customers: your 14-day cooling-off right is preserved and runs parallel to this guarantee. During those 14 days you may return the reel unused under EU law regardless of this policy.

The details, clearly stated.

  • Valid for new reels purchased on svivlo.com from April 30, 2026 onward.
  • You have 60 days from the delivery date to return the reel.
  • Full fishing use is permitted and encouraged. You don't need to keep it clean. Fish it the way you normally would. Not sure what falls within normal fishing? See CastGuard limits →
  • The reel must be returned in normal used condition — no abuse, structural damage, or parts missing.
  • Return shipping is paid by you. We don't hide this.
  • Non-EU customers: please declare the package as "returned goods" when shipping back to Sweden to avoid customs fees. Failure to declare correctly may result in customs charges we will deduct from refund.
  • Refund is issued within 5 business days after we receive the reel.
  • One return per customer under this guarantee.

8 months. Zero adjustments.

The guarantee exists because the results in the field back it up. Allan fished the Draken ONE through an entire season — different conditions, different lures, different weather. He didn't adjust the reel once after setup.

Allan — Field test, 8 months

"I loaded the rod and let it fly with a good long cast. Before the lure could hit the water, I moved my hand completely away from the reel. As the lure touched down, the spool quickly, but gently, stopped spinning. No backlash at all. Zero. Exactly as promised."

Honest about the limits.

CastGuard responds to lure pull. While the lure pulls line from the spool, it runs freely. When pull fades, the spool stabilises automatically. That's the whole system. Which means the limits are straightforward — if the conditions prevent normal lure pull, behaviour changes.

Normal fishing — CastGuard works as described

Under normal casting variation — wind shifts, lure changes within typical ranges, casting angle changes, fatigue — CastGuard keeps the spool stable without adjustment. No thumbing required. No brakes to tune between casts.

Wind changes mid-flight — spool stays predictable, no adjustment needed
Switching between lure weights in normal range — no retuning required
Skipping, pitching, flipping — spool stabilises at pull fade without thumb timing
Long sessions with fatigue — consistency holds, not dependent on your attention

Where CastGuard reaches its boundary

These situations sit outside normal fishing. CastGuard can still overrun here. This is not a setup issue — it is the edge of the system.

Extremely jerky casting input — abrupt power application that collapses pull immediately at launch
Lure stopped by obstruction mid-flight — pull disappears abruptly, spool has no signal to respond to
Immediate pull collapse at launch — if the lure never develops sustained pull, the system has nothing to respond to
Finesse weights below roughly 8 g — use a spinning reel. This isn't a Svivlo limitation — it's baitcasting physics. No baitcaster works well at finesse weights.

If an overrun happens during normal fishing — not in the boundary situations above — that is what the Fish-it Guarantee covers. See guarantee terms →

FAQ

Does this apply to both the Draken ONE and Genesis ONE?

Yes. The Fish-it Guarantee covers both models, purchased new on svivlo.com from April 30, 2026 onward.

What counts as "behaves like any other reel"?

If you find yourself adjusting brakes between casts, thumbing the spool mid-flight to prevent overruns, backing off your casting effort when switching to lighter lures, or timing the thumb at splashdown as a routine habit — that's the test failing. Return it. We're not going to interrogate your fishing. If it required ongoing management under normal conditions, the guarantee applies.

Do I need to clean or service the reel before returning it?

No. We expect a used reel to look like a used reel. Normal fishing wear is fine. The only condition is no structural damage, abuse, or missing parts. Don't clean it on our behalf — just pack it up and send it back.

I'm outside the EU. How do I avoid customs issues when returning?

When sending the reel back to Sweden, declare the package as "returned goods" on the customs form. Include your order number. This prevents Swedish customs from treating it as a new import and charging us duties, which we cannot absorb. If you're unsure how to do this, contact us before shipping and we'll walk you through it.

I'm in the EU. Can I return it unused under the 14-day cooling-off right instead?

Yes. Your EU cooling-off right (ångerrätt) runs parallel to the Fish-it Guarantee and is fully preserved. A few things worth knowing about how it actually works:

You have 14 days from delivery to notify us of your intent to return — not to physically send it back. Once you've notified us, you have a further 14 days to return the reel.

Usage and value deduction: under EU law, you are entitled to inspect and test the reel as you would in a shop. However, if you've used it beyond that — including taking it fishing — we are legally entitled to deduct for diminished value before issuing your refund. We are required to inform you of this right at the time of purchase for it to apply.

This is exactly why the Fish-it Guarantee exists. Under Fish-it, there is no deduction — full refund after full fishing use, for 60 days. If you've fished the reel, Fish-it is the better option regardless of where you are in the world.

When does my 60 days start?

From the date of delivery — when the reel arrives at your address, not when you order it. If you're unsure of your exact delivery date, check your tracking confirmation email or contact us.

New to baitcasting — will this work for me?

The guarantee applies regardless of experience level. If the reel behaves like a regular baitcaster under normal use, you can return it. Not sure whether baitcasting is right for you at all? Read the baitcaster vs spinning reel guide →

How do I start a return?

Email orders@svivlo.com with your order number. No forms, no lengthy explanation required. We'll confirm the return address and any shipping instructions. That's it.

Ready to fish it

You stop adjusting between casts. You stop timing the splashdown. You just keep fishing.

60 days · full fishing use · full refund · you cover return shipping
